About

Crace△Mountain is the founding mother of music, art and culture in Nanaimo’s underground. It is the host of dark back alleyway shows which provide a platform for starving artists who are desperate to find an intimate place to present their work▽.

Crace was birthed out of frustrations from the outskirts of hell. Some of Nanaimo’s creative and unique acts are not your “average” publicized events, therefore making it difficult for artists to find appropriate, affordable, and endearing venues to showcase their talents. Many performers complain that there aren’t enough suitable spaces for this, hence why we have taken matters into our own hands and created our own performance space tucked away in the city’s nooks and crannies, flouting local bylaws.

Crace△Mountain, which is a local, literally ‘underground’ venue, is an artist-run space. It projects an alternative vision while facilitating and encouraging the arts. Most of all, it is our home; it is where we live together as a tight-knit, homogeneous family, even during the cold winter months of no heat. We open our home to private shows in hope for people to be respectful of our space, it is not just a party house, it is our sanctuary. We do this because we believe in enhancing our community among artists.

Crace hosts an array of events including concerts, performance art, workshops, films, art installations and showings. Anything goes. We hope to be the breeding ground for a unique, conscious attitude; our goal is to induce a wakening-state that will help people to realize poetry in everyday life here in Nanaimo.
